Are you looking for support during your pregnancy and postpartum period?

The Community Doula Connection Program offers specialized doula support for equity deserving families in our communities for whom access to adequate education and care points and where the cost of doula care would be a barrier.

The Birthing Families Foundation doulas work with pregnant people who are facing intersectional barriers in their pregnancy and postpartum periods to help them experience care that is individualized, safe, healthy, and equitable.

To request support please contact your care provider to have them apply on your behalf.

We are currently serving families who reside or will be birthing in:

The Gulf Islands

Greater Victoria Regional District

Cowichan Valley

Regional District of Nanaimo

Doulas work with people before birth, at the birth and in the postpartum time to ensure that new parents have the added support they need. This can look like educational, physical and emotional support and advocacy as well as community referrals to help empower and provide options for yourself and your family.

Please discuss the option of a doula through Birthing Families Foundation with your care provider or social program contact and have them fill out our referral form with you. Or if you're looking for more information about our programming please contact us.

Thanks for checking us out,

ABOUT DOULA

care

Having a doula to support care during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum has been proven to improve clinical health and emotional well-being outcomes, which is even more critical in areas with limited access to adequate care and for families that face barriers with intersectional challenges such as mental health, addictions, racial and gender-based biases and economic stressors. Doulas facilitate and encourage education in community, informed consent and strategies around safe and inclusive care that centers the birthing person and their autonomy.
